Carl Bickler qualified from Edinburgh University in 1980 and became a full time principle at Craigmillar Medical Group in 1985. He has always had an interest in the health inequalities agenda, and developed areas of expertise reflecting this. In the clinical field the practice developed skills in managing drug users and managing HIV infected patients. The practice have further developed innovate ways of addressing the needs of the practice population. Carl was a member of Lothian Health Inequalities Subcommittee, and is at present member of the Primary Care Trust inequalities Steering Group. John Budd , DIG worker. Currently part-time GP at Muirhouse Medical Group. Previously worked in rural South Africa as community and hospital doctor. Particular areas of interest include community-based health care, having carried out research in Tanzania looking at different primary health care models, and Hepatitis C in General Practice. |

Dr Phil Donnelly graduated from Glasgow University. Previously a "mainstream" GP principal in Edinburgh , Phil was a GP retainer scheme for four years and now works as lead clinical with Edinburgh Homeless Practice (EHP) and was heath inequalities facilitator with the Deprivation Interest Group. Phil is also course organizer for two one-day postgraduate education days at the lister Postgraduate Institute. |

Jane Hopton has both NHS and academic posts as Policy Advisor to Lothian Primary Care Trust and Research Psychologist in the Department of Community Health Sciences, University of Edinburgh. Key areas of her work include the development of Local Health Care Cooperatives, the development of public involvement and addressing inequalities in health. She has extensive research experience in these areas with a special interest in equalities in health, particularly the relationship between housing conditions and health status. |
